Hidden With Christ Minstries

Jaimee Langeland

Born in the heartland of Midwestern America, Jaimee Joye Langeland descended from a long line of Iowa farmers. Her parents had left life on the farm and moved to Sioux City, where Jaimee was born. When she was just four years old, Jaimee's family moved to Northern California to begin a new life on the West Coast.

She remembers receiving Jesus as her Savior at a very young age. Her parents had a tremendous influence on her spiritual life, as they were dedicated Christians. Her older sister Sara, also led by example, teaching her to read the Bible everyday for herself. She also mentions the influence of her parents-in-law, whom she met when she was a University student while attending their church. "They taught me more than can be read in this bio but most of all they taught me how to hear the voice of God and walk in the Spirit and about the freedom that Christ has to offer."

Jaimee felt the call of God on her life when she was in Junior High. She would lay in her bed dreaming of building a Transitional Home in the side yard of her parents' home and connecting it to their house by a long hallway. Then she would imagine going into the streets to find homeless people, and drug addicts and runaway teenagers and bringing them to this facility. After traveling to Panama on a missions trip during the summer after her sophmore year in high school, she realized she also had a deep passion for missions. At that point, she was certain that the Lord was calling her to the ministry.

After High School, Jaimee moved to Southern California to attend Vanguard University and majored in Biblical Studies. She married Andy, the son of her pastors, and together they finished their University degrees, served as Youth Ministers and prepared for the mission field.

In 2006 they took their Church Youth group on a mission trip to serve at a summer camp for orphans in Ukraine. Jaimee continues the story: "After that trip, Andy and I began to feel the call of God to move to Ukraine and work with teenage orphans, a problem that became very clear to us while we were there. We were living in Ukraine less than one year later." By June of 2007, they had moved to Sevastopol to launch a post-orphanage project for teenage orphans called OPERATION LAZARUS.

Though learning the Russian language has been a challenge and breaking new ground on the foreign mission field has presented many difficulties, Jaimee is certain their efforts have been worthwhile. "I love the kids we work with, seeing their lives change right in front of us is priceless."

These two young missionaries have had to believe God for every dollar of financial supply for their project. Jaimee comments on this by saying, "We have seen a lot of amazing life transformations serving on the mission field, but what continues to blow me away every day is the Lord’s continuous financial provision. Our God is a faithful God!"
