2010: The Road Ahead
by Rita Langeland

You’ve never been on this road before.
(Joshua 3:4 Message translation)
When Joshua stood on the verge of leading the Israelites into the Promised Land, he told the people, “...you’ve never been on this road before!” The same is true as we look down the road of 2010 that lies ahead.
After praying regarding the New Year, I sensed from the Lord that 2010 was going to be the YEAR OF DIVINE ORDER. It will be a year in which God Himself will supernaturally bring into order, things which are out of order. The number “10” in Biblical numerology is often said to represent “the law,” a reference to the Ten Commandments. But if you look at the contents of the Ten Commandments, you can understand that they represent God’s Divine Order for mankind. God desires that no one steal, murder, commit adultery or lie about others. Instead, God’s heart is that people everywhere love Him and honor Him as the one true God, (the first commandment) and love people.
Are there areas in your life that are “out of order” - such as broken relationships, financial lack, health problems or unfulfilled destiny? God wants to bring them into His Divine Order.
There are two keys which the Lord spoke to me that will be required of God’s people, that will release the flow of God’s DIVINE ORDER into their lives. When released, they will produce an amazing dominoe effect. If you have ever seen a large line of dominoes set up, you will remember that when the first dominoe is toppled, it releases an unstoppable series of dominoes falling forward into the same exact position as the first one.
The first key is that we need to go into this new year ON THE OFFENSIVE. Not defensively, just hoping things won’t be as bad as last year, but instead offensively. In examining the armor of God described in Ephesians 6:10-17, we find only one offensive weapon - the SWORD of the Spirit which is the WORD OF GOD. To go into 2010 offensively - we will have to go in DECLARING THE WORD OF GOD. It will be vital for you to UTILIZE and be SKILLFUL with the Sword of the Spirit in order to be victorious in every situation you will encounter in 2010! But be encouraged, there is no situation in life that the Word of God (the promises of God) cannot deal with.
Many people will throw up an emergency prayer or an emergency scripture promise when they are facing a crisis. But that is a defensive posture, taken after a crisis has occurred. God wants us to go offensively into 2010 declaring what God’s Word says about our lives and our families before we face a crisis! God gave very clear instructions to Joshua as he took over the leadership of Israel after the death of Moses about how to be successful. He told him,
“This Book of the Law (God’s Word) shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe and do according to all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall deal wisely and have good success.” Joshua 1:8 (AMPLIFIED)
We must do the same. We must not let God’s Word depart from our mouths. We must SAY WHAT GOD SAYS about our lives and our futures. Don’t drop the sword, by saying things that are contrary to God’s Word. For example, you could say, “2010 looks bleak for my job situation and I don’t know how we will pay our bills if something happens.” That would be a common statement that you may hear in the workplace. But as a believer in God and His Word, you should say what God says about you. “God says in Jeremiah 29:11, ‘For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the LORD, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’ Therefore I will not fear because God is my help and my protection, and He has hope and a future for me!”
That is an example of how to use the Sword of the Spirit as an offensive weapon. If you click here, you can find scriptural declarations (which you are free to print) for all areas of your life such as health, children, provision, and even business success. They are totally based on scripture and will help you to take up the SWORD and go into 2010 on the offensive. I suggest you take them like medicine - twice a day - declare them (read them out loud) when you get up in the morning and before you go to bed at night. It will have a transforming effect on your life!
The second key is this. We need to go into 2010 RESOLVED TO LOVE. Often you will hear people make New Year’s resolutions such as to lose weight, save money or get organized. But this is a Biblical resolution - to walk in love toward ALL people - even the most unlovable souls in your life! Romans 13:10 says that, “...love is the fulfillment of the law.” If you LOVE God and LOVE people - you will fulfill the ten commandments without even trying! Make a decision that in 2010 you are RESOLVED TO LOVE everyone that crosses your path from the clerk in the store to the most annoying relative you have - and don’t let anything they say or do move you out of a place of LOVE. Respond in love with your words, actions and attitudes in every situation. If you stay in that place of love - essentially abiding in God who is love - the Bible says that you can ask anything of the Lord and He will grant your request. (1 John 4:16 and John 15:7) And then God will be able to bring Divine Order to the areas of your life that perhaps have been out of order for a very long time.
God bless you as you enter THE YEAR OF DIVINE ORDER!
