Jared & Amanda White: Back to the U.S.A.

Jared and Amanda White are a very special couple. They made a decision to take several months out of their lives, put their careers on hold, and give of themselves to serve teenaged orphans in the far away Crimean peninsula of Ukraine. And they did this not once, but twice!

With a great love for young people and a gift for working with troubled teens, the Whites joined Operation Lazarus Directors Andy and Jaimee Langeland and served as a part of the OP LAZ team from February to May 2009. They jumped in, studied hard to learn the basics of the Russian language and loved on the kids that OP LAZ serves in the orphan community of Sevastopol.

After returning to the USA and to their “day jobs,” the love in their hearts for the Ukrainian orphans never faded. They worked hard, saved their money and planned to return to Ukraine again. Their sense of timing was perfect, as it ended up that the Langelands would need to return to the US for the birth of their first child, and the Whites were ready and able to step in and cover for them while they were away. They moved back to Ukraine in September and kept Operation Lazarus going and ministered with tremendous love and compassion to the orphaned teenagers. They are a beautiful example of the power and value of the short-term missionary!

Jared and Amanda returned to the United States in December and moved to Berkeley California where they both are pursuing graduate studies at the University of California.
