Join the Band of 500!

I read an amazing story about a pastor of a very large church here in Southern California. His church is one that does a tremendous amount of work and financial giving into the local community with practical programs from feeding the poor to helping people look for jobs. Due to the increased needs of so many people in the stressed economic period during 2009 - they poured out more money into "missions" work both domestic and foreign than they ever had before. But it left the church in a $900,000 deficit in December, something that they had never experienced before. The pastor sent out a letter to all the members of his congregation asking if they could help clear the deficit and start 2010 on an up note. Money started to come in - $50 here, $100 there and a few $1,000 gifts as well. By the last Sunday of December - the $900,000 deficit was gone and they had more than a million dollars left over to begin 2010 on that "up" note! They testified that no one had given a huge amount, it was just regular people giving amounts they could afford. But for that church - it was a Christmas miracle!

Hidden With Christ Ministries can relate to that church from the standpoint of pouring out more in 2009 than we ever have before. When a need arises in the ministry - whether in our orphan ministry in Tanzania or Ukraine or other outreaches - we pour out - believing more money will come in to cover upcoming expenses like paying the staff and covering rent and mortgage payments. But like that church - at the end of the year - there were bills that needed to be paid that we didn't have the money to cover. We also have a deficit that needs to be "retired" immediately so we can move forward into 2010 on an "UP" note!

One of our Board Members has felt led to make a challenge to everyone who loves the work of this ministry. Here is the challenge in her own words:

"I realize this is a bold request - but it is one that came through much prayer. I felt like the Lord led me to challenge at least 500 people to give $500. I don't have the extra money myself, right now, but I'm praying that He's going to make me one of those 500 people. I believe that you love this ministry and that is why I am taking your time and asking you to step up to the "faith challenge". There is amazing territory that God wants to take this year through HWCM, and it will require a financial breakthrough. I believe the same is true for your life – you need breakthrough - and you can count on prayer going up for you and your needs from HWCM. I encourage you to be part of the “Band of 500” and sow a seed toward financial restoration and debt cancellation!"
