More Good News

We are so happy to send this praise report about Anjela, our precious “Angel” as we call her. As many of you know, when Anjela arrived at Treasures of Africa Children’s Home she was in very bad shape. She had a severe rash and scars all over her body, a bad case of thrush and many signs of neglect. Anjela was born with cerebral palsy and her limbs were contracted, drawn up close to her body. She had been abandoned by her father right after her birth and then later her mother left her with a cousin to go to the store and never came back. When we received her, she looked as if she had been left alone without any stimulation or care for a very long time. At twenty one months of age she could not even crawl. We also discovered that she was almost blind and tested positive for HIV. For months she had a constant fever and what seemed like an unending infection in her lungs. Her compromised immune system kept her vulnerable to one infection after another. The doctor who examined her told us it would be unlikely if she would live beyond another year.

But all of us at TOA fell in love with this special child whom God would never abandon. She has been given so much love and attention and there is a constant flow of prayer over her life. She also has received continuous physical therapy which has made an amazing difference in the use of her limbs. Instead of the dull stare that once characterized her, Anjela now smiles freely and loves to be held. She is making tremendous progress. But the greatest news we have heard yet came to us this past week.

We received a report from the doctor that her viral load (which shows how many copies of the HIV virus are in the blood) is UNDETECTABLE! This is the same good news we reported to you about Antoni last month! We are thrilled at this news and thankful to God for this breakthrough. She, like Antoni, will remain on the HIV medication but her immune system is now stronger than ever. The constant infections are a thing of the past. We praise God for this answered prayer and are believing to get the same report soon for Justice and Awadhi. Thank you for praying for these special “treasures” at TOA!
