Seeing With New Eyes
by Rita Langeland
When little Justice arrived at the Treasures of Africa Children’s Home, he was just a few months old. Thin and weak, he looked as if he was barely clinging to life. Hospital testing confirmed he was HIV positive.
With the love and attention showered on him by the TOA staff and the older children, Justice began to respond. Over the past year, the abundance of prayer and good nutrition provided to him helped to strengthen his frail body. A few months ago, he began to walk to the applause of everyone at the orphanage!
One problem that continued to plague Justice was his eyes. Born with a severe case of strabismus (a cross-eyed condition) Justice continuously rubbed his eyes and whimpered as if he was constantly in pain. In November, Justice underwent surgery to correct his eye condition. The surgery was successful and Justice’s eyes are now perfectly aligned and tracking the way God intended them to be. Within a few days after the surgery, Justice was outside playing, smiling and the most energetic we have seen him. He doesn’t rub his eyes anymore and looks straight at you with a new light in his eyes! We are grateful for this wonderful result and so happy to watch Justice look at everything around him with his “new eyes”! Your support for the Treasures of Africa Children’s Home is making a difference in Tanzania - one child at a time! |
