Investing In The Maasai Tribe

by Rita Langeland

Pastor Zablon's Baptismal

We have been thrilled to see the breakthroughs that God has given us among the Maasai. So we are more than willing to continue investing in their lives both spiritually and physically. The church that HWCM built last Fall in Esilalei village for Pastor Zablon, sits on the property given to the ministry by the local government leaders. It stands next to the well which was drilled to provide clean water for the community.

Treasures of Faith Church is filled each Sunday morning with people who are beginning to learn about the great love that God has for them. During the week the church fills with people praying together and learning the Word of God and how it applies to their daily lives. It has become a center for revival in the area.

Thanks to the generosity of an HWCM donor, a cement baptismal tank was recently constructed on the grounds of the church.(see photo above) This was a needed addition for baptism of the many new converts that have been won to Christ.

When I visited Esilalei village in April, we had a sign made for the church and presented it to Pastor Zablon. At that time, I realized that it was best not to permanently affix the sign until we finish the church walls with a stucco/plaster coating that will help seal the block. So for the moment, the sign sits inside the church awaiting completion of the walls. We would also like to finish the interior walls and paint the church inside and out. Then we will hang the sign and place a cross on the top of the building which will be visible for miles around. I got an estimate for the completion of this project and we will need approximately $800.

If you would like to help us finish Pastor Zablon’s church, you may send a gift to HWCM and mark it “Maasai Church Building Project.”
